Synchronous Reluctance Motors

VR Series

KEB Automation’s broad motor portfolio is enhanced by synchronous reluctance motors. Although there are many parallels with asynchronous motors in terms of design and the production process, there is a significant difference in the rotor. The fundamentally simple mechanical design of the motors and the resulting lower maintenance requirements, along with their robustness, are characteristics of synchronous reluctance motors that save time and money in practice. In addition, the motors operate entirely without rare earth elements –ensuring maximum material independence in times of strained supply chains.

These motors are used in extruder applications, packaging systems, wire and sheet metal processing, and woodworking machines. Speed-controlled pumps, paper and cardboard production lines, machine tools, and recycling plants are further areas of application.

Incremental encoder

Mounted on the rear of the motor, the incremental encoder ensures precise measurement of speed and position. Measurement takes place directly on the motor shaft, ensuring high control quality. It also enables compact, space-saving integration within the motor and often eliminates the need for additional external encoders or sensors. Incremental encoders are a cost-effective solution for many standard servo and drive applications.

Resolver

Resolvers are characterized by high resistance to shocks, vibration, and temperature. They are also insensitive to contamination, moisture, and EMC interference. High operational reliability even in harsh industrial environments and a long service life due to their simple and robust design make the resolver an attractive option. They are particularly suitable for applications with high demands on reliability and availability.

COMBISTOP S1

The new S1 high-performance holding brake features an innovative, patented friction system. This provides a significantly higher braking torque compared to conventional spring-loaded brakes. It is particularly well-suited for servo applications with increased safety requirements. Thanks to the plug-and-play system, this series is also easy to install. The torque range of the high-performance holding brake is 0.5 Nm to 60 Nm.

Shaft without keyway

  • Backlash-free torque transmission with modern clamping or shrink-fit connections.
  • No weakening of the shaft due to a keyway.
  • Simpler balancing at higher speeds.
  • Reduced installation and maintenance effort with suitable coupling systems.
