SHREDDERS, CRUSHERS, PLASTIC RECYCLING
The recycling process takes place in several clearly structured steps. The use of crushers or shredders is one of the first mechanical stages. Crushers use pressure, impact or compression to break down solid materials such as concrete, metal or stone. Shredders, on the other hand, rely on rotating movements, which cut or tear materials. Plastics, wood, textiles and much more can be reliably shredded in this way. The shredded materials are sorted, cleaned and prepared for reuse. Machines such as optical sorters, washing systems or – in the case of plastics recycling – extruders are used as an integral part of waste management. For example, plastic waste is turned into high-quality recyclate, which is then used to create new products.
KEB Automation is a reliable partner to the recycling industry, with a track record spanning decades. With well-designed system solutions, plant and machine manufacturers receive a complete package for the highly dynamic control of variable-speed shredding machines. The application is always considered holistically. The result: solutions ranging from IIoT and control technology through drive controllers to motors and brakes.

Drive solutions for the recycling industry
Whether crushers, shredders or plastic recycling plants – for users, efficiency and minimal downtime are always key. Flexibility is also essential, as machines must be able to adapt to different waste streams and changing recycling requirements. Reduced energy consumption is not only economically beneficial but, above all, environmentally necessary. Furthermore, modern machines are becoming increasingly digitalised. As a result, remote monitoring and predictive maintenance are gradually becoming the norm. KEB acts as a central point of contact for plant operators when it comes to meeting these requirements.
