System of Parallel Operated Devices – SPOD
Scalable performance for demanding applications
With its System of Parallel Operated Devices (SPOD), KEB offers a powerful solution for industrial applications with high power requirements. By connecting up to three COMBIVERT F6 Drive units (power modules) in parallel, power ratings in the megawatt range can be achieved – flexibly, efficiently and with low maintenance.
What does the parallel connection of frequency converters mean?
The parallel connection of frequency inverters is a process in which several power units jointly supply an electric drive system. The aim is to increase the output power, improve system availability and increase flexibility in mechanical engineering.

Highlights
- Scalable performance: By combining multiple inverters, power ratings up to the megawatt range can be achieved – precisely tailored to the application
 - Modular design: The system architecture allows for flexible machine concepts and easy integration into existing systems
 - Ease of maintenance: Individual units are compact, lightweight and quick to replace – ideal for maintenance-intensive environments
 - Cost efficiency: The use of proven standard components saves time and reduces investment and operating costs
 - Design flexibility: Air or liquid cooling, built-in or push-through variants – whatever is needed
 - User-friendliness: Operation remains as usual – no additional training required
 - High availability: Modular interchangeability minimises downtime

Technology in detail
In a SPOD system, several drive units operate synchronously and are controlled via a central control unit. This unit coordinates the power electronics, communication with the machine control system and the distribution of load currents. It is based on an F6 control board and an adapter board and is available in APPLICATION and PRO variants.
The modular architecture enables easy integration into existing machine concepts and offers maximum flexibility in control cabinet design.
Areas of application
SPOD is particularly suitable for:
- Recycling plants (e.g. shredders)
 - Injection moulding machines
 - Extruders and presses
 - Special machine construction
