COMBISTOP S1 FLAT

Compact components are essential in automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and robotics applications. This is because the space available for installing brakes, for example, is very limited. With the new COMBISTOP S1 Flat, KEB Automation offers the perfect solution. This means that, in addition to the COMBISTOP S1, a new design of the innovative spring-applied brake is now available, making the brakes suitable for use in a wide range of applications.

A special feature of the S1 Flat is its patented friction system. This provides a significantly higher braking torque compared to conventional spring-applied brakes. The principle behind the system is based on the friction generated between the friction disc, armature and flange, whereby the kinetic energy is converted into heat and the movement is stopped. The current torque range of the COMBISTOP S1 Flat is 3.4 Nm to 10.8 Nm – further sizes will follow. This provides ideal conditions for applications with increased safety requirements. The plug & play system also makes this series easy to install, and the ready-to-install air gap means that commissioning can be carried out in no time at all.

Like the COMBISTOP S1, the COMBISTOP S1 Flat does not contain any rare earths – and yet offers performance equivalent to that of a permanent magnet brake. The advantage: greater independence from materials and more reliable supply chains for better planning.

Options

If the braking torque needs to be modified for the application, the torque can be increased or reduced according to the customer’s specifications during the internal production process.

If the application requires a modified voltage, a customised coil with the corresponding voltage can be realised in the internal production process.

Individuality is standard at KEB. That is why customised sizes are also produced to meet individual requirements. This is made possible by the fact that over 90 percent of KEB brakes are manufactured in-house.

If the assembly process of the brake has to be simplified, our products can be equipped with ready-to-connect cables with plugs, contacts or even wire end ferrules.

A factory certificate 2.1 according to DIN EN 10204 that the delivered products comply with the agreements at the time of order can be provided at the customer's request. This certificate is issued based on non-specific testing. Also, an acceptance test certificate 3.1 according to DIN EN 10204 can be issued at the customer's request. In this case, the confirmation is given with the results of specific tests, such as the torque test.
